Lectures of International Law in Herat
Italian Army soldiers of Train Advise and Assist Command West (TAAC-W) in Herat, multinational NATO Command based on “Pinerolo” Brigade, framed in Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, organized and conducted a seminar about International Law in Armed Conflict in favor of fellow Members of 207 Corps, Afghan National Army.
The lectures, developed by the Train Advise and Assist Command West (TAAC-W) Legal Advisor, in order to implement the cultural and legal baggage of Local Security Forces members, are part of the new training cycle, devised by the Italian Contingent in favor of the Afghan National Defense Security Forces (ANDSF), called “OMNIA”.
In particular, the seminar focused on the “train the trainers” capacity building, on matters such as the United Nations Charter, the International Law in Armed Conflict history, the analysis and application of main Conventions, as well as a deepening on application and respect of the International Humanitarian Law in the conduct of military operations, also in the light of United Nations Charter forecasts. The participants expressed great interest and involvement, given that they will be asked to share, as instructors, the contents of the seminar in favor of their Units.
The activity of the Italian Advisors is part of the NATO Resolute Support (RS) mission, with the task of providing training, advising and assistance to the Afghan Security Forces, in order to increase their function and capacity of self-sustaining.
