“General Errico’s visit in the US”
An official visit in the United States by the Chief of General Staff of the Italian Army, Lieutenant General Danilo Errico ended in recent days. Welcomed on his arrival by the Defence Attaché at the Italian Embassy in Washington, Air Division General Luca Goretti and by the Military Attaché for the Army, Colonel Filippo Gabriele, General Errico met the Plenipotentiary Minister at the Embassy, Mr. Maurizio Greganti.
In the days that followed, Chief of the Army visited the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), receiving a briefing by Deputy Commander Lieutenant General Sean MacFarland about structure and organization.
During the visit, Chief of the Army was received by General Mark Milley and by Lieutenant General Gary Cheek, respectively Chief and Deputy Chief of General Staff of the US Army; in this occasion General Errico was awarded with the Legion of Merit, important decoration that he dedicated to all men and women of the Army, expressing a particular thought to the fallen and wounded. Afterwards General Errico laid a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National Cemetery of Arlington. Then Chief of the Army visited the Military Academy of West Point, where he was welcomed by the Superintendent of the institute, Lieutenant General Robert Caslen Jr.
The institutional visit ended at New York, where General Errico met the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Ambassador Jean-Pierre Lacroix and visited the National September 11 Memorial, where he lied a wreath.
Throughout the various meetings, Chief of General Staff of the Army received words of appreciation for dedication and results achieved by men and women of the Italian Army in numerous scenarios at Home and abroad.
