Italian Blue Helmets in Lebanon inaugurated a new road for the local population in the municipality of Tibnin.
“Inaugurated in Tibnin a road, almost a mile long, built in nine days”
The Italian Contingent in Lebanon, as a part of UNIFIL mission, with a CIMIC (Civil and Military Cooperation) project, built an asphalted road, with the aim of improving the traffic in the municipality of Tibnin.
Together with the local Authorities, Brigade General Francesco Olla, Joint Task Force – Lebanon Commander, inaugurated a road section that will improve the link with the neighboring municipalities and at the same time will guarantee the best road safety conditions.
The municipality of Tibnin is one of the main town in the UNIFIL Area of Operation – Sector West, the multinational Contingent under Italian direction and composed of units from twelve different contributor Countries.
Qualified CIMIC personnel from Italian Contingent, deployed since last 27 April in Lebanon in the Operation "Leonte XXII" and based on "Granatieri di Sardegna" Brigade, promoted the designing and the construction of the inaugurated road, almost a mile long and concluded in nine days.
The aforementioned personnel work in the "Multinational Cimic Group" in Motta di Livenza (TV), since 2002 operating Center and leader in the cooperation with the most important International and Non-Governmental Organizations, Italian and Foreign, in all Armed Forces Operations.
CIMIC activity is a fundamental operating function in the UNIFIL contest, where the Joint Task Force - Lebanon works always supporting local Authorities and Non-Governmental Organizations, in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
